about

In 2004, The Wretch emerged from the ashes of what was a short foray into powernoise driven breakcore under the name Terrorsect. Fusing archival movie samples with heavily edited breakbeats and frantic synth programming, the first two albums (Cyst and Ambulatory) forged a path completely separate from other music Michael was making.

With the album Northern Air, ambitions ran high and Michael added collaborators and a new element to the mix: a microphone. The musical direction went from breakcore and industrial chaos to a full hybrid approach, integrating all of his various influences into The Wretch to make it an all-encompassing idea.

With the completion of When I Fall, everything went dormant. Many ideas came and went, and things that were key to the later stages of The Wretch went back into their original homes in the other projects. The Wretch is getting ready to return to it's origins, as the wounded and angry broken thing Michael brought into the world. This compilation serves as a reminder of the strongest moments of the instrumental vision that lived for the last 17 years, and where The Wretch is looking for self inspiration.

about

The Wretch New Jersey

The Wretch is Michael Weeks, also featuring Darren Halm, Eric Schlappi and a host of assorted guests.
